Welcoming new families into our supportive community.

At Mi Kids, we believe in strong partnerships with families, working together to support each child’s growth, wellbeing, and success. We take a solution-focused approach, always aiming to find the best ways to help your child thrive.

Our educators maintain ongoing records of children’s learning and development, and we regularly discuss observations with families to set short- and long-term goals together.

  • Formal parent-teacher interviews at the beginning and middle of the year, providing dedicated time to discuss your child’s progress, goals, and development.
  • Informal chats during drop-off and pick-up, ensuring open communication and partnership each day.
  • Sneak Peeks, our weekly program preview shared with families, highlighting upcoming learning experiences and ways your child can contribute, ensuring continuity between home and Mi Kids.
  • Invitations to centre events, including Occupation Week, Book Week, and other celebrations throughout the year, fostering community connections and shared experiences.

Wellbeing and Inclusion Support

Our Wellbeing Support Educator and partnership with Care Connect for Inclusion Support plays a vital role in supporting families, educators, and children by:

  • Providing additional information, guidance, and strategies tailored to each child’s individual needs.
  • Connecting families with appropriate external services and therapists to ensure holistic support.
  • Facilitating the Triple P Parenting program, empowering families with practical strategies to strengthen relationships, build confidence, and support their child’s social and emotional development.

At Mi Kids, we live by the philosophy that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Our Inclusion Support and Educational Team work in partnership with families, ensuring each child is surrounded by a strong, caring community that uplifts and empowers them to thrive.

Educational summaries and milestone reports are shared throughout the year, highlighting your child’s growth, strengths, and next steps. We also use Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences to understand and nurture each child’s unique learning style and potential.

Settling In

We always put the child’s needs first and to ensure children settle in, we actively encourage consecutive day attendance, with a minimum of 2 consecutive days preferred.  We find that having consecutive days assists with the children seeing familiar faces each day, which greatly assists with the settling in process. However, we understand the individual needs of each family and always take this into consideration when dealing with attendances.

Mi Kids has an orientation process which enables children to visit our centre for short periods of time, before their actual first day in their room, to assist them meeting their educators and new friends. We strongly suggest that each child has at least two orientation sessions before they commence. We welcome you to phone in and check on how your child is settling into Mi Kids and we fully understand that you may need to call for re-assurance at anytime.

Ongoing Support and Involvement

Our early childhood teachers provide an ongoing record of children’s learning and development and families are encouraged to access this information.  After a month we will invite new families to have one on one session with the educator to discuss their observations and together with families set out short-term and long term goals for their child’s growth and development.  Also in this meeting educators will discuss the learning styles that their child is strong in using Gardner’s theory. Throughout the year there will be progress reports on how their child is meeting the goals set and possibly resetting new goals and milestones.

We encourage families to participate in our curriculum offering their skills and knowledge that will enrich the program.  Also, we love families to participate in our garden and working bee sessions, information sessions and fundraising events will be on the events calendar linked to you when you have enrolled.

Families are welcome and encourage to attend our information sessions and seminars relating to children’s development and to other areas of interest to families, early childhood students and educators.

Each Term, Mi Kids emails all the special event dates such as mothers’ day and father’s day, open days, celebrations and end of year show case where children can show their families the projects they have been involved in, art pieces and performances.  The opening and closing dates for the school will be on this calendar as well.
