We embrace all new families and welcome them into our warm and supportive community where the educators and staff are honest and receptive to questions, requests and comments, making time to speak regularly with families to discuss their child’s care and progress.
We always put the child’s needs first and to ensure children settle in, we actively encourage consecutive day attendance, with a minimum of 2 consecutive days preferred. We find that having consecutive days assists with the children seeing familiar faces each day, which greatly assists with the settling in process. However, we understand the individual needs of each family and always take this into consideration when dealing with attendances.
mi kids has an orientation process which enables children to visit our centre for short periods of time, before their actual first day in their room, to assist them meeting their educators and new friends. We strongly suggest that each child has at least two orientation sessions before they commence. We welcome you to phone in and check on how your child is settling into mi kids and we fully understand that you may need to call for re-assurance at anytime.
Ongoing support and involvement
Our early childhood teachers provide an ongoing record of children’s learning and development and families are encouraged to access this information. After a month we will invite new families to have one on one session with the educator to discuss their observations and together with families set out short-term and long term goals for their child’s growth and development. Also in this meeting educators will discuss the learning styles that their child is strong in using Gardner’s theory. Throughout the year there will be progress reports on how their child is meeting the goals set and possibly resetting new goals and milestones.
We encourage families to participate in our curriculum offering their skills and knowledge that will enrich the program. Also we would love families be participate in our garden and working bee sessions, information sessions and fundraising events will be on the events calendar linked to you when you have enrolled.
Families are welcome and encourage to attend our information sessions and seminars relating to children’s development and to other areas of interest to families, early childhood students and educators.
A calendar for the year will stipulate all the special events such as mothers’ day and father’s day, open days, celebrations and end of year show case where children can show their families the projects they have been involved in, art pieces and performances. The opening and closing dates for the school will be on this calendar as well.
